The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is pleased to announce a five-day intensive workshop on “Environmentalism in the Arab Region: Concepts and Methods,” co-organized with the Odum Institute, a research institute housed at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (USA). The workshop will be held on February 10-14, 2020 in Beirut, Lebanon. It seeks to bring together 15 to 20 researchers from the ACSS network who submitted proposals and/or received grants in the three cycles of the “Environmentalism, Impoverishment and Social Justice Movements: Interdisciplinary Perspectives” research program. We invite participants who are interested in training on mixed research methods and developing their knowledge of state-of-the-art concepts and frameworks in the field of environmentalism.

Submissions for this issue can include poetry, prose, research articles, journalistic pieces, personal narratives, and artistic submissions.

The ACSS was represented at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), which convened its 25th Anniversary Summit in Nairobi, Kenya (November 12 -14, 2019) to galvanize partnerships and mobilize political will and financial commitments to fully implement the landmark ICPD Programme of Action and achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030.
