Job Opportunity: Research Assistant, Energy Policy and Security in the Middle East Program, IFI

In collaboration with the Council for Renewable Energy (CRE), the Energy Policy and Security in the Middle East Program (EPS) at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at AUB is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Research Assistant (RA) with strong quantitative and analytical skills to work on investigating the role and challenges of high renewable energy penetration in Lebanon. 
 
About the Energy Policy and Security in the Middle East Program (EPS):
EPS is an interdisciplinary platform to examine, inform and impact energy policies in Lebanon and in the region. The Program closely monitors the challenges and opportunities of the shift towards alternative energy sources with focus on nuclear power and the Middle East. 
 
Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct desktop research and literature reviews.
  2. Draft summaries of findings, and assists with preparation of publications.
  3. Act as a link between EPS and CRE and coordinate activities.
  4. Assist with preparing and conducting interviews.
  5. Conduct quantitative analysis.
  6. Undertake simulations and modelling tasks.
  7. Support research in data gathering and analysis.
  8. Assist the Program in organizing meetings, workshops, lectures, and conferences.
  9. Assist the Program Director in other relevant tasks of the research program, including providing administrative support. 
Qualifications and Requirements
  • BA in economics or another quantitative field. Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Research experience in the subject of renewable energy.
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.
  • Excellent writing skills (English)
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to be pro-active, independent and efficient.
  • Positive “can-do” attitude is essential for this position.
